  • Youth Council supports Year of Tolerance with new artistic platform
  • Al Olama: Tolerance is a sublime national value that frames creative youth talents

UAE, Dubai, May 13, 2019: The Ministry of Health and Prevention, MoHAP, has stressed the importance of utilizing the potential of youth and fostering their skills to support the UAE’s development progress.

HE Dr. Mohammad Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary for MoHAP, said it is very significant to adopt youth innovations and equip them with necessary skills and knowledge that respond to rapid changes and enhance the UAE’s reputation and its soft power.

“The UAE is empowering its youth through the development of a knowledge-based economy led by mindful and educated young people capable of devising innovative solutions for various challenges,” Al Olama said.

“As part of its future-oriented strategies, the UAE seeks to localize the fourth industrial revolution inventions and invest in artificial intelligence techniques including the Blockchain, to strengthen the country’s sustainable development” Al Olama added.

Youth Artistic Activity

Al Olama made these remarks while inaugurating an Art Exhibition organized at the ministry’s headquarters, Dubai, by the ministry’s Youth Council as part of its Year of Tolerance initiatives. Present at the opening ceremony were MoHAP assistant undersecretaries.

Al Olama said: “Art represents a human message, a cultural value and a high-level tool to frame creative youth and artistic talents within a sublime national value, “Tolerance”, which is inspired by the legacy of late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the authentic values of the UAE society and the directives of the wise leadership”.

“Since its inception, the UAE has set a unique role model for tolerance, coexistence and cultural diversity. Not too far, it announced 2019 as the Year of Tolerance. This reflects the county’s cultural wealth, human development and civilizational interaction, through which it introduces to the world a perfect moral initiative that turns the country into a global hub for tolerance and coexistence,” the Undersecretary for MoHAPn said.

He praised the ministry’s youth council for organizing various events and activities that spread vitality and positivity at the ministry. He also lauded the exceptional level of paintings displayed at the exhibition, which reaffirms the fact that the ministry has a lot of promising talents.

Art for Health’ competition
Al Olama noted that MoHAP launched last year the ‘Art for Health’ competition to raise awareness on lifestyle-related medical conditions and tap into young people’s creativity and innovativeness, to help address the growing health issues in the country.

Innovative art projects

Dr. Sultan Sharif, Chairman of the Ministry's Youth Council, said that the art exhibition is the latest in a series of the council’s initiative during the Year of Tolerance. He highlighted that the exhibition witnessed the participation of an elite group of young talents who showcased their artistic creativity focusing on tolerance and cultural diversity.

The artists have presented their creative works and artistic projects in an innovative manner that reflect values and principles of tolerance in the UAE. We have also organized a competition for the best paintings reflecting tolerance among ministry staff, Dr. Sharif added.

“The ministry’s youth council features an elite group of young Emiratis who have positive attitudes and are armed with innovative visions. Forming the council was a step in the right direction to activate the positive participation of youth in decision-making and to link their ideas with the vision of the Emirates Youth Council, which is tasked with setting a youth-focused strategy in line with the country’s vision,” Chairman of Youth Council highlighted.
