Top CUD officials invited to attend the Network’s 5th General Assembly in Almaty, Kazakhstan, in September

Dubai, July 11, 2019:  Canadian University Dubai (CUD) is among the newest members of the Silk-Road Universities Network, an innovative transnational higher education association that aims to foster peace and understanding through cultural activities, arts, heritage preservation and research.

Established in 2015, the Network consists of over 70 international institutions along the lines of the historic Silk Road, spanning Europe, the Middle East and Asia. It seeks to promote the exchange of ideas between intellectuals, culminating in decisive actions that transcend national, religious, and cultural boundaries.

Through education and training, the universities within the network are committed to creating future leaders who will be able to promote peace and harmony in line with the Silk Road Universities Network. The International Institute of Education (IIE), an organization which focuses on International Student Exchange and Aid, Foreign Affairs, and International Peace and Security, has recognized the Network as an innovative initiative that can change the basic paradigm of education in the next century.

Underpinned by the valuable lesson derived from the history of the Silk Road, the network’s mission and founding declaration acknowledges that “the key to peaceful coexistence and collective prosperity is to treat individual differences as a cause for celebration”. Building on this principle, the network aims to impact the world by undertaking diverse projects that restore the historical value of the ancient Silk Road.

Attending the 5th General Assembly of the Silk-Road Universities Network, to be held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, from September 18 to 21, 2019, Professor Karim Chelli, President and Vice Chancellor of Canadian University Dubai, and Professor David Santandreu Calonge, Dean of the Faculty of Communication, Arts and Sciences will join the debate on ‘Role of Universities for Transforming Silk Roads into Peace Roads with Co-prosperity’.
