Schneider Electric’s factory in Cikarang, Indonesia, is the showcase for the integration of industrial automation systems and renewable energy utilization
• The Engineer-to-Order factory demonstrates quantifiable and real-time benefits while protecting the environment -- improvements in energy efficiency and productivity by up to 15%; reduction in time and costs, and operator errors; while at the same time provide better support to the end user in the day-to-day operations and maintenance through better visibility.
• Schneider Electric has a strong commitment in accelerating the implementation of industry 4.0 in Indonesia through its comprehensive EcoStruxure™ solutions and the sharing of best practices of its smart factories’ transformation to Indonesia’s industry players.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates -  13July  2019:   Schneider Electric, the leader in digital transformation of energy management and automation, reaffirms its leadership in smart and sustainable manufacturing with its Cikarang factory – its biggest engineer-to-order factory in Asia - which combines industrial automation system and renewable energy utilization. It is part of Schneider Electric’s global digital transformation program and the company’s commitment to carbon neutrality by 2030.

Xavier Denoly, Country President Schneider Electric Indonesia said “The Cikarang factory, an Engineer-to-Order factory is one of our global factories which produces panels for customers globally. As panels have different specifications depending on customer needs, the production process has to rely more on manpower. Digital transformation in our Cikarang factory has therefore emphasized increasing manpower productivity by streamlining the communication process and increasing the accuracy of data / information provided by the deployment of EcoStruxure solutions to increase visibility and coordination amongst the operators, as well as improving energy efficiency and environmental conservation. The digitalization of the factory allows better precision on operations maintenance thus reducing the risk of accidents, increasing the quality of the products for customers and more importantly, developing workforce skills towards analytical thinking and new industrial tools.”

The Cikarang factory is one of the first Schneider Electric factories in Asia to use renewable energy in its operations. The renewable energy source is solar powered panels on the building’s roof which provides solar-generated electricity for building operations. The utilization of solar energy has reduced its carbon footprint by cutting down 181 tonnes of CO2 per year. More than twenty percent (>20%) of monthly energy consumption in the factory is currently generated from solar power and targeted to reach 100 percent renewable energy by 2030.

As Schneider’s biggest Engineer-to-Order factory in Asia, Cikarang is a panel assembly factory for customized specifications with a wide variety of products from medium to low voltage electrical equipment. Located in East Jakarta Industrial Park, it covers 33,000 sqm of area with total 800 employees and has certifications based on national and international standards for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 50001 and SMK3.

The Cikarang Smart Factory started its digital transformation journey in 2017 by gradually deploying solutions under its EcoStruxure™ architecture that include connected products, edge control and apps, analytics & services for energy management, operations & maintenance: EcoStruxure™ Augmented Operator Advisor, EcoStruxure™ Power Monitoring Expert, EcoStruxure™ Building Advisor, EcoStruxure™ Resource Advisor, EcoStruxure™ Grid, Lean Digitalization System for shop floor management, Remote FAT, Versatility Tool, 3D Printing, and Paperless on Production Auto Control. The solar panel is also integrated with EcoStruxure™ Power solution which enables the operator to monitor the capacity of energy produced by solar power.

EcoStruxure™ is the engine that drives the digital transformation of energy management and automation. It is an IoT-enabled digital platform consisting of connected products; edge control solutions; and apps, analytics software, and services. The platform affords visibility and control across the enterprise via real-time monitoring, mobile insights, digital twin capabilities, and proactive risk mitigation. Today, EcoStruxure covers 500,000 sites globally, connecting some 20,000 software developers, 3,000 utilities, and 650,000 service providers and partners as a community.

“Our smart factory in Cikarang showcases how digital transformation delivers improvements in the efficiency, to reduce time and costs, operator errors and provide better support to the end user in the day-to-day operations and maintenance through better visibility. The Cikarang factory has, thus far, seen a productivity and energy efficiency gain by up to 15%,” explained Hemant Lakhotiya, Vice President APAC Region Equipment & Transformers Schneider Electric.

Schneider Electric recently unveiled its Batam factory which had undergone digital transformation and is recognized as a Smart Factory. It is also a showcase for IIoT (Industry Internet of Things) and is Indonesia 's Ministry of Industry's showcase in the country's effort to accelerate Industry 4.0 in the manufacturing sector. Schneider Electric in Batam also partners with the Ministry of Industry in conducting training and mentoring for industry players which will open up opportunities to discuss and build competencies in the implementation of digitization and automation through the best practices.

Schneider Electric’s smart factories in Cikarang and Batam complete its portfolio in transforming factories with different business and operational needs to showcase how digital technology is improving employees’ productivity and enhancing their skills and knowledge. Besides Cikarang and Batam factory, Schneider Electric Group has also transformed their factories across its operations worldwide which include smart factories in China, France, Philippines, India, US and Mexico.

In addition, Schneider Electric group recently announced it has been ranked 11th in the Gartner Supply Chain Top 25 for 2019 and also won the 2019 Industrial Manufacturing Supply Chainnovator Award in Gartner’s 2019 Supply Chainnovator Awards which recognizes unconventional, innovative and high-impact supply chain initiatives in the industrial manufacturing sector.
