Dubai, UAE, October 8, 2019: Ahead of Expo 2020 Dubai, UPS (NYSE:UPS) is testing electrically assisted quad-cycles for potential future deployment in the region. Under a development initiative between UPS and SAP’s Co-Innovation Lab (COIL), a program will be developed to measure drivers’ energy use and monitor statistics on movement and real-time cycle data. The program is intended to help optimize cycle use and streamline maintenance and repair requests. The innovative quad-cycles will be displayed at SAP’s booth at GITEX Technology week in Dubai.
“Innovation and transformation are at the heart of UPS’s smart global logistics network. We are excited to evaluate these electric quad cycles for potential use during Expo 2020 Dubai to identify more sustainable, productive and effective operations in logistics,” said Luke Wake, director of automotive engineering & advanced technology group, UPS International. “Expo 2020 Dubai is all about the future and one in which UPS endeavors to play an important role in advancing a more sustainable delivery network. Our collaboration with SAP in its Co-Innovation Lab gives us better visibility on how to optimize efficient use of alternative delivery vehicles.”
