This visually-impaired Emirati knows no impossible
- Matar: Man, without ambition, is soulless body
- Matar: I always have a dream to be role model
Ajman-UAE: October 20, 2019: As everyone, male or female, old or young, may face some difficulties and hard times in this life, some easily give up, some resist for some time, while others are so resilient and never lose hope.
27-year-old Emirati young man Abdulaziz Najim Qasim Abdullah Matar, based in Sharjah, is one of those few with firm will and determination. Despite his full visual impairment, he never gave up, and managed to finish his high school, literary section, with a high score of 98 per cent.
“I do not believe in the word impossible,” Matar, a student of law at Ajman University, said. “There is a will, there is a way,” he underlined.
Matar, always having a dream to conquer his visual impairment, spares no effort to set a role model for others, turn people’s sympathy into an admiration, and be a source of inspiration for others.
“Blindness is a spiritual setback rather than a physical disability,” he said. “I do believe that a man without ambition is nothing but a body with no heart and soul.”
Adopting the ‘Make it happen’ spirit “thriving in Ajman University”, Matar is all set to continue his graduate studies and earn master and doctorate degrees in law from Ajman University after finishing his bachelor’s degree next year.
The bright young man, who is newly married, managed to enter the labour market long ago with multiple talents, and now works as an anchor with the Sharjah Media Corporation, and as a Media Coordinator with the Sharjah Sports Club.
“I am to take the challenge to an upper level, and plans to start a new career as a lawyer after I finish my bachelor’s degree in law next year.”
Matar’s outstanding performance made him eligible for a full scholarship with Ajman University. “Being socially responsible is part of Ajman University's DNA where students show great passion for their studies and deep compassion towards the society.”
“I not only write and chant poetry, but have also acted in so many plays and series, and did lots of voiceovers with popular TV cartoons.”
