Sharjah, November 20, 2019:   The 10th edition of the Sharjah Stamp Exhibition in Mega Mall is attracting a heavy turnout from philatelists, currency collectors, and amateurs at all ages from inside and outside the UAE.

Running from 19 – 23 November, the five-day event aims to highlight the role of lovers and enthusiasts for stamp and currency collection in preserving the history for the next generations, through encouraging and developing their talents and hobbies by organizing lectures and symposiums and attracting the major postal institutions to take part in the largest exhibition of its kind across the region.

The exhibition is organized by the Emirates Philatelic Association (EPA) for the tenth consecutive year.

Meeting New Cultures

“The first and second day of the exhibition saw a huge turnout of visitors from various nationalities and age groups, which reflects the leading position of the exhibition at local and global levels. The importance of Sharjah Stamp Exhibition is not limited to showcasing the role of postage in communication and networking but it extends to contemplating the history of the participating countries and learning new cultures,” said HE Abdullah Khoury, President of the Emirates Philatelic Association.

The exhibition also plays a significant role in introducing the rich history of the UAE to the world, with the goal of enhancing its position globally by paying more attention to this human legacy which is one of the priorities of the Emirati society that is always keen to safeguard heritage and national discoveries.
“This year’s edition is seeing the largest participation ever since the inauguration of the exhibition, in addition to the philatelists from all around the world, who are enriching the exhibition with precious information about their countries, through the postal stamps and materials dating back to the 19th century,” added Khoury

“About 85 international postal entities are taking part in this edition, besides the wide participation of stamp traders which showcase unique collections of stamps and rare coins and paper currencies,” he concluded.

A Unique Experience

Mohammed Sorour, Marketing Manager of Mega Mall Sharjah, said: “We, at Mega Mall, are keen on hosting this annual event to actively participate in this cultural scene, which has become the one of the most important Arab, regional, and international exhibitions for stamps, coins, and its supplies.”
“The participation of the leading postal companies and philatelists from inside and outside the UAE help attract a wider array of hobbyists and those interested in visiting the exhibition and Mega Mall also. That’s why, we were keen to provide all the facilities for the participants to enrich their experience, such as dedicated spaces for showcasing their acquisitions and adopting the best international practices to ensure the safety of the exhibits,” he underlined.
Sorour noted: “This in addition to the unique shopping experience provided by Mega Mall to exhibitors and visitors to the exhibition, through 150 stores offering a wide array of products, including fashion, accessories, electronics, toys, as well as a large food court and cafes.”

In conclusion, Sorour underscored that all exhibitors and hobbyists lauded the good organization and the importance of the exhibition location in making all service accessible to them, the matter that contributed to increasing visitors' turnout to the exhibition.

An Annual Platform

“My participation in the Sharjah Stamp Exhibition has given me the chance to meet with stamp traders and philatelists who have unique and rare stamps and coins from all over the world. For me, this exhibition is a platform that brings together all amateurs to engage in their favorite activities and interaction with the events which foster the value of our hobby,” says the Emirati hobbyist Saif Rashid, who also praised the good organization of the exhibition, the distinctive display, and the well-distributed platforms in a way that enables visitors to see the exhibits smoothly.

Remarkable Improvements

“This is my eighth participation in the Sharjah Stamp Exhibition. It’s undoubtedly a successful event especially the good organization, which is remarkably improving every year. This has made the exhibition a superb cultural event throughout the previous editions, in addition to being one of the most important Gulf fairs for amateurs and exhibitors alike,” the Egyptian exhibitor Khalid Sabry speaks about his experience and participation in the exhibition.

Enriching the Hobby

While the Lebanese trader Wakim Wakim says: “Stamp collection is an important trade. To enrich it, you have to sell and buy, otherwise, philatelists were not able to collect stamps and coins from all over the world. For me, the exhibition has helped in enriching and growing my hobby, thanks to its important status among stamp traders and the privileges given to its visitors, whether the good organization or the enormous services provided.”

Broad International Participation

The tenth edition of the Sharjah Stamp Exhibition is seeing a debut by China and Pakistan, besides Australia, New Zeeland, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain, in addition to broad participation by the Emirati postal institutions.
