“Planet Positive” is Tetra Pak's New Way of Doing Business
Tetra Pak Suggests a Low Carbon Circular Economy Approach to Business in the F&B Industry ahead of Gulfood 2020
Dubai, 15 February 2020: Tetra Pak, the world’s leading food packaging and processing solutions company is adopting a new approach to its operations across the value chain through “Planet Positive”, an initiative urging industry stakeholders to move to a low-carbon circular economy. This movement represents a new way of thinking inspiring suppliers, customers and other businesses to come together to address the pressing global environmental issues of climate and waste, taking a broader view of sustainability, going beyond recycling and reuse to include the carbon impact of raw materials and manufacturing.
Khaled Ismail, Vice President Communications - Europe, Central Asia, Middle East and Africa region, said: “The world is changing and our approach to sustainability has also changed over time. Today, it is no longer enough to assess and improve our impact on the environment. As part of the food manufacturing industry we have a duty to improve our practices in order to preserve our environment, our lives, and our planet. A circular economy is the way to go, and we, at Tetra Pak have integrated it in our business model it and are encouraging our customers to embrace it.”
As a proof of our commitment, Tetra Pak has scored double ‘A’ by CDP for leading efforts against climate change and protecting forests. Only 2% of companies who pursued the reporting in 2019 received an A score for climate action, making Tetra Pak one of a small number of high-performing companies out of thousands that were scored. We are one of 179 companies recognized for actions to cut emissions, mitigate climate risks and develop the low-carbon economy, and one of 8 companies working to prevent deforestation in supply chains via sustainable sourcing of key commodities that are linked to deforestation.”
Under the theme “Do More Together”, Tetra Pak will showcase its latest innovations and solutions at its dedicated lounge at Sharjah Room, above Hall 6. At the lounge, apart from the more details of Planet Positive Campaign and sustainable solutions as fresh new Tetra Stelo™ Aseptic 1000 Edge with Bio-based WingCap™ 30 package or end-to-end environmental offer with our processing equipment and expert services; Tetra Pak customers and other F&B professionals can find more about Tetra Pak’s products & services portfolio, commitment to Sustainability.
