Dubai, April 1, 2020:   Over 100,000 teams across the Middle East have taken part in the first three qualifying rounds of the Garena Free Fire Arab Series, with the winners set to be crowned when the final of the competition takes place online on April 18.

The third season of the marquee event, like the previous two, has proved hugely successful, with enormous numbers taking part. Teams, made up of four or five members, battle it out in the ultimate shooter game with a $20,000 prize at stake.

Three of the four qualifying rounds have already taken place, with the last one close to completion, where gamers will undoubtedly have one eye on next month’s final. The first qualifier attracted 22,415 teams, while 80,782 teams were involved in the second. The third, meanwhile, saw 88,191 teams come together to compete against each other in the online tournament.

The total number of competitors surpassed figures reached in previous gaming tournaments hosted by others in the mobile battle royale genre.

As well as taking home a brilliant cash prize of $20,000, the overall winner of the competition will also secure a place in the Free Fire Champions Cup, which is due to take place in Indonesia later this year.

Garena Free Fire is the world’s most popular – and most downloaded - mobile Battle Royale game and boasts a huge global following.

Widely recognised as the ultimate shooter game Free Fire pits players, who have all been placed on a remote island, against each other as they attempt to stay alive. Various challenges and obstacles, including snipers and ambushes, need to be overcome in search of the ultimate goal – survival.

The Free Fire Arab Series follows hot on the heels of the inaugural Free Fire Arab League, where 24 top teams from across the region were invited to take part in a competition which was structured in a league-style format, with a cash prize of $5000, as well as 50,000 in-game diamonds, up for grabs.

The event, which was eventually won by the MAFIA TN team from Tunisia, proved to be a massive success and captured the imagination of local gamers by securing a total of 2.8 million views across the MENA region.

Esports tournaments such as the Arab League and Arab Series provide a platform for the Free Fire community to come together and compete against each other at the highest level, all from the comfort of their own homes.
