Aster Volunteers' Free Medical Camp in Ras Al Khaimah Benefit 800+ People
Ras Al Khaimah, UAE 28 July 2020: Aster Volunteers in partnership with Aster Hospitals, Aster Clinic, Indian Association – Ras Al Khaimah and the Ministry of Health – Ras Al Khaimah has conducted a 2-day free medical camp and blood donation drive that has benefitted more than 800 people.
With loss of employment and residents being unable to return to their home countries due to travel restrictions in different countries, many people have not been able to afford regular health checkups and visits to medical facilities. The medical camp, conducted by Aster Volunteers, the Global CSR initiative of Aster DM Healthcare, at the Indian School in Nakheel, Ras Al Khaimah, aimed at providing an opportunity for people to come and get their ailments checked free of cost. The school, located at the heart of the city, allowed easy access to people to attend the camp. Following rules of social distancing as well as properly maintained hygiene standards, the medical camp catered to different types of consultation facilities and also offered medicines to the attendees, free of cost.
Dr Azad Moopen, Founder Chairman and Managing Director, Aster DM Healthcare said, “Giving back to the society has always been one of the values of Aster. We consider it all the more important during these difficult times to undertake initiatives that benefit the needy members of the society. With the help of our partners, we were able to offer medical support to many. We also could facilitate blood donation, which is a noble act to help fellow citizens. We are encouraged by the enthusiasm with which people participated and benefited from it and intend to continue undertaking such activities to ensure that we can help as many people as possible.”
The medical camp consisted of free Ophthalmology and Orthopedic consultations as well as general medical checkups and eye testing. A blood donation unit was also set up at the venue for those who wished to donate blood.
Free medical camps and blood donation drives have been one of the key pillars of Aster Volunteers. Till date, around 525517 people have benefitted from over 3584 medical camps that have been organized. Through various initiatives that are being driven by the global programme like mobile medical services, basic life support trainings, recruitment of people of determination, free surgeries and humanitarian aid for disaster support, over 2 million lives have been touched.
