Sharjah, November 14, 2020: The Emirate of Sharjah is gearing up for hosting the first edition of the 'Jewels of Emirates” Show, the first 100% Emirati exhibition for jewelry, gold, silver, pearl, precious stones, luxury watches, and perfumes.

In a statement, the Expo Centre Sharjah announced that the event will be held from 25 to 28 November under the theme “Let your jewelry speak for you”, with the support of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) and the participation of a large number of UAE companies to showcase their latest traditional and modern gold and diamond lines and trends.

Achieving economic sustainability

His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, SCCI Chairman, said: “Organizing this event comes as part of the efforts to create various platforms to stimulate the movement of sales and trade at the local level, after being affected by the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic, by sponsoring and launching a series of specialized exhibitions across the emirate, after Sharjah Executive Council’s decision on the resumption of exhibitions and conferences that are held under the umbrella of government institutions and sectors.”

Al-Owais added: “These efforts come in line with the SCCI’s strategy aimed at creating initiatives that will achieve economic sustainability and develop the national economy. They are also aligned with the wise vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah to achieve economic diversification, which is a key pillar in Sharjah’s economic policy, by supporting the local economy and enhancing its competitiveness. This consolidates Sharjah's position as a leading economic hub for doing business in various sectors.”

Innovative initiatives

His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director General of SCCI, said: “The SCCI is always keen to launch innovative initiatives to enhance the competitiveness of Sharjah’s economy, meet the needs of the private sector, and contribute to the sustainable development of various sectors.”
Al-Awadi referred to Expo Centre’s accumulated experiences to adapt to various changes, adding that the event, which is targeting local manufacturers and merchants, is a remarkable step forward towards accelerating the pace of resuming exhibitions and events in the emirate and stimulating domestic tourism by attracting consumers from the various emirates of the country, as well as being a good opportunity for future spouses to grab the exciting offers, especially after allowing weddings, thus revitalizing the gold and jewelry sector and the sales movement as well.

Stimulating gold and jewelry trade

“The Jewels of Emirates Show is part of our strenuous endeavors to create a variety of platforms to boost sales and trade in the wake of Covid-19 repercussions,” said HE Saif Mohammad Al-Midfa, CEO of Expo Centre Sharjah, “We’ve already organized a number of specialized fairs after the decision of the Sharjah Executive Council in terms of resuming the activities of exhibitions and conferences sector which is held under the supervision of government institutions and sectors.”

Al-Midfa hinted that the Centre is currently focusing on organizing local exhibitions to bolster Emirati companies and promote domestic products.
“The Jewels of Emirates Show will have an impactful role in revitalizing gold, silver, and jewelry trade, supporting local industries, reinforcing the UAE’s status as a global hub for this industry, and enticing visitors through attractive deals and offers and valuable prizes” added Al-Midfa, “The Expo Centre has become a key platform for promoting gold, jewels, and watches trade in the Middle East, as well as being a destination for the finest international brands, dealers, designers, and professionals to foster their presence in regional markets, especially that Expo Centre is the world’s only exhibition centre that organizes one event twice a year, which is the Watch & jewelry Middle East Show (WJMES).

The 1st 'Jewels of Emirates” Show would help consolidate the center's position as a distinctive and pioneering destination for specialized exhibitions.

Return of confidence to visitors and exhibitors

Al-Midfa added: “The organizing committee of the Show is working tirelessly to complete the organizational, logistical, and marketing preparations to make sure that the message and objectives of the event have been fulfilled.”

“A considerable number of Emirati and local companies are showing their interest in taking part in the event, especially in light of the increased confidence of visitors and exhibitors following the success of the recently organized exhibitions.”

He underscored that the event will be held amid the implementation of the highest precautionary and preventive measures. This includes sterilization of the building and the halls, temperature check when entering the Centre, installation of AI thermal cameras, rearrangement of spaces to ensure the application of safe distancing rules, setting up a waiting hall to avoid congestion, and hanging Covid-19 posters and protection kits, including face masks, gloves, and disinfectants.
