EWINGS Donates AED 100,000 and Signs Agreement with Friends of Cancer Patients
18 January 2021, Dubai: EWINGS, Managing Operator of Mahzooz, has signed a financial contribution agreement with Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP) and has donated a generous amount of AED 100,000 to the civil society organisation. FOCP is dedicated to alleviating the burden of cancer in the UAE through awareness, access to early detection facilities and providing financial aid to cancer patients who need help with covering high treatment costs.
“Our support and financial contribution agreement with Friends of Cancer Patients works towards achieving one of our collective company objectives which is to give back to the wider UAE community and to help those in need,” said Teresa Starr, Co-CEO, EWINGS.
“This year has been a challenge for many people across the world for multiple reasons, including health. We are humbled to be able to help such a worthwhile cause in the region, and we are working to expand our portfolio in CSR partnerships to further serve the community in our future endeavours.”
FOCP will mobilise the funding to boost its efforts towards cancer awareness and control in the UAE and the region. This donation is the latest step taken by EWINGS to help those in need and will boost support for cancer patients in the UAE. In October 2020, as part of its CSR activities, EWINGS had collaborated with FOCP’s breast cancer initiative, the Pink Caravan, by sponsoring a fully equipped van for providing free clinical screenings to women and men in designated labour camps.
“FOCP is grateful for the support extended by EWINGS and their commitment to partner in our mission of improving the quality of life of those affected by cancer. The financial impact of cancer causes considerable hardship for many patients and their families, and through substantial funding from charitable donors, FOCP can make a greater impact by offering comprehensive support to those in need,” said Dr. Sawsan Al Madhi, Director General of FOCP.
She added: “The outbreak of COVID-19 has further intensified the strain on those suffering from cancer, and the assistance offered by EWINGS will ease the burden for many families in the UAE during these challenging times.”
In November, EWINGS launched the live weekly draw ‘Mahzooz’ which ties into its drive to give back to the community and to help those in need. EWINGS has a full calendar of community projects, as well as a range of worthwhile causes, philanthropic initiatives, and non-profit organisation tie-ups.
