06 October 2021:  The Sharjah Training & Development Center (STDC) has been approved by Sharjah Municipality as a certified centre for food safety training within the Sharjah Food Safety Program (SFSP).

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) revealed that the STDC thus becomes qualified to organize training courses and workshops on good health practices and food safety for supervisors and workers in food establishments.

Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al-Awadi, Director-General, SCCI, said: 'This accreditation is yet another testament to the quality and efficiency of the training programs and courses provided by the STDC to enhance the capacities of the public and private sector employees. It also reflects the interest of the Sharjah Chamber in contributing to all initiatives and programs that would enhance the skills of the private-sector workers.

Al Awadi pointed to the leading role of the Sharjah Food Safety Program in raising community awareness about public health and food safety.
He added the STDC offers world-class courses and programs that meet the aspirations and keep pace with the latest approaches in the training field.
Al Awadi stressed that the SCCI is always keen to develop the center's programs and harness all potential to train and qualify the cadres serving with the Chamber's partners from the members affiliated with the business sector, as well as in government bodies and departments.

Mariam Saif Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General, Support Services Sector, SCCI, pointed out the STDC will provide an advanced training program for supervisors and workers in food production and sale companies, noting that the courses will be presented in Arabic, English, and Hindi by specialized trainers, in order to make the most of the program outputs.

She added: 'This accreditation serves as a driving force for the STDC to continue providing internationally accredited training programs and workshops. It also enhances the Centre's status in the region, when it comes to providing the latest training courses to develop the capacities of employees.
She stated that the courses and workshops provided by the center aim to develop the performance of the business community in a way that enhances the competitive environment of the Emirate of Sharjah, noting that the training courses are subject to ongoing development in cooperation with a number of local academic bodies in order to set up training courses that achieve the sought-after goals.
