If you are planning to get laser hair removal done anytime soon, it’s important that you get to know a little about this treatment, how it works, its facts, and its side effects before you jump to any conclusion. Yes, there are multiple advantages to getting laser treatments, but if you are susceptible to hair growth, it could cause pigmentation in the long run. So if you have to be careful and study a bit about the matter. If you are looking for some understanding on the matter, let us help you out.

1. Not As Painful As Popularly Believed
As per medical experts, laser hair removal works when the light of the laser converts into heat and damages the follicles and bulb. Usually, this process is supposed to be very painful but that is not always the case. Lasers come with a cooling mechanism too which is considered to be quite useful for patients. Also, the chances of pain are high when the body temperature is high too. So, it’s best to make an appointment when the body has a regular temperature.

2. It’s quick
The process of laser treatments is quite smooth and takes less time. Not more than 20 minutes are spent on each lesson, which is almost the same time dressing up takes.

3. Working out isn’t advisable
Usually, the laser’s heat stays inside your skin for up to a day. So stay away from hots showers, gym, sauna’s, etc. Doing so could actually cause bacteria to expand in areas and leave you with spots.

4. The sun’s not your friend anymore
You have to stay away from sun exposure as well as sunbathing pre and post-treatment. If you get tanned by any chance, wait till the tan has faded before you begin your treatment again.

5. Patience matters

You’ll have to be patient during the process because it will take more than 2-3 weeks to notice a difference. You need to be regular with all appointments because the follicles happen to be at different growth stages so you need to ensure each follicle can get entirely zapped.

6. More growth can happen
Laser hair removal treatment can also lead to more hair growth. Sometimes they are thicker and longer than usual. However, this is less likely to happen to you, given the fact that you speak to your dermatologist before making any decision.

7. Switch up the products
Retinol cream, scrubs, and glycolic acid have to be avoided at least 2 days pr & post-treatment. A lot of moisturizers and mists must be used to ensure the skin does not get any dark.

8. Such treatments offer many benefits
Apart from getting clear and smooth skin, laser hair removal in Dubai also assures you lesser irritation of skin and prevention of hair ingrowth.

9. No waxing, plucking allowed
Also, make sure you stay away from bleaching, waxing, and plucking. If you wish to go hairless, you can also try shaving.

10. Skin Friendly
Laser hair removal treatments are super skin-friendly. In other words, they work on all skin tones. The only thing is that your hair needs to be dark enough so that it can be drawn by the laser. Old laser hair skin treatments were not advisable for people with dark skin tones because as it would put their skin at risk of burning.

11. Top-up treatments are needed
Top-up treatments are highly recommended as most people have reported that hair tends to grow back. So depending on how quickly your hair grows, you need to get a treatment or two done, 1-2 times a year.

12. Trim/Shave before you laser

The laser could easily react with the hair which could lead to further irritation and even cause a burnt-up hair smell. To avoid this, you need to shave/trim the hair before you even try a laser.

Laser treatment is a smooth, easy and effective way to remove excess and unwanted hair. But before you consider this treatment, make sure you speak to your dermatologist, understand your skin’s condition before getting it done.
