• The program aims to train outstanding young national cadres who can take on leadership roles within the organization in the future.

Abu Dhabi, 30 September 2022: The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) announced the selection of 33 candidates for its 'Future Leaders Program' in a ceremony held at the Rosewood Hotel in the presence of all employees nominated for the program.

Under the slogan 'Nominate today, be a leader tomorrow,' DMT started the Future Leaders Program in August of this year to give talented and passionate employees the chance to improve their skills, abilities, and readiness to play a significant role in shaping the future of DMT.

Since the program's launch, 313 employees have submitted nominations, making the program a huge success. The initiative targeted employees of the department and its affiliates who are citizens of the United Arab Emirates, under 35 and hold a bachelor's degree or higher. A total of 112 candidates passed the program's preliminary exams, and 33 candidates were chosen to comprise the program's inaugural cohort after further evaluation by DMT.

The program offers several courses in influential leadership through prestigious educational institutions in the country, following the best international practices.
H.E. Falah Al Ahbabi, Chairman of DMT, addressing the 112 finalists at the ceremony, said: 'The Future Leaders Program embodies DMT's commitment to developing the capabilities of young people, recognising that they are the key to building and creating the nation for the future.

'Developing the human capital within the organisation through developing and training the most brilliant and aspirational young individuals and increasing their capacity to join the department's leadership, administrative, and technical ranks are some of the institutional priorities of the department.'

H.E. Omar Al Nuaimi, Director-General of Institutional Affairs at DMT, said: 'Graduates of the Future Leaders Program will be given priority when applying for supervisory and leadership positions. Furthermore, we will implement several initiatives and training sessions to assist them in acquiring more knowledge and enhancing their leadership skills. As a result, they will excel in their areas of expertise and contribute to the emirate's sustainable development and economic growth.'
