Emirati Saud Ahmed Al Kaabi shares his inspirations during ‘With their small fingertips’ session held in the eastern region of Sharjah
 
Sharjah, February 28, 2023:  To inspire upcoming generations on the importance of broadening knowledge horizons and unleashing creativity, the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) recently organised a panel discussion titled “With their small fingertips”, highlighting the journey of Emirati budding author Saud Ahmed Al Kaabi, winner of the Voices Of Future Generations - Middle East award.

During the discussion at the Kalba Ice Factory - Fen Café, moderated by media figure Wadee Mohammed and attended by government officials, Asem bin Thabet school students and parents, Al Kaabi expressed his desire to cultivate a reading habit among his peers and inspire them to become writers. He acknowledged the valuable support and guidance provided by his parents and teachers that led him to pursue his literary passion and eventually write his award-winning story 'Saoud and Chess', which secured the first place from the Emirates Literature Foundation.

During the session, Al Kaabi said that he recognises the importance of including fantasy, legends, and adventures in writing stories to captivate children's interest, stressing how these elements can help raise children's awareness on important issues they may face, such as bullying. He added that children possess an innate understanding of the complexities surrounding this issue, as they exist within the same social environment as their peers and aggressors. He also expressed his eagerness to combat the problem of bullying, particularly in the online space.

Al Kaabi explained that his written work on bullying offers practical solutions through storytelling and by showcasing examples, with the aim of teaching children about the negative impact of bullying and empowering victims to confront their aggressors by developing their skills and striving for success, while also raising awareness about the serious harm that bullies can cause. The session came to a close with students sharing their views on bullying, its causes and impact and ways to combat it. 

With sessions like “With their small fingertips”, the SBA aims to provide a platform for young authors to share their journeys and experiences to inspire other children, unleash their creativity, and instil the habit of reading in the young generations through creative means.
