Dubai Government Workshop enhances sustainability practices through its water recycling initiative

Home >> Local News and Government

Dubai, 21 March 2023: In line with the announcement of H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, as 2023 being the 'Year of Sustainability’ in the UAE, Dubai Government Workshop maintains its commitment to the principles of sustainability and has held water preservation as key priority through the launch of the water recycling initiative across its facilities and implementing it in all facets of its work.

Dubai Government Workshop reiterates its dedication to implementing water preservation techniques, along with the water recycling programme as part of World Water Day, that is observed on March 22 every year, with an aim to control water consumption, reduce waste, and help achieve water sustainability. In light of the current global water crisis, the workshop is further aimed at raising awareness on the value of water conservation. It emphasises the need to unite efforts to address these challenges and devise effective solutions to realise the sixth Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), which calls availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

The UAE Water Security Strategy 2036, which seeks to guarantee sustainable access to water in both normal and emergency situations in order to realise the UAE's vision of prosperity and contribute to the sustainable growth of the national economy, is in line with the workshop's efforts. The workshop's water recycling project covers all of its managerial and internal operations in its headquarter, as well as fleet management and maintenance work and services. Moreover, the advantages of this initiative go beyond water sustainability and also include reduced power consumption.

Following the path set by the UAE in its water sustainability strategies, Dubai Government Workshop recycled approximately 1.2 million gallons of water in 2022 in addition to conserving 170,000 gallons through effective approaches.
