Eminent UAE Businesswoman Dr Raja Al Gurg receives French Legion of Honor
Dubai, 17 May, 2023: Dr Raja Easa Al Gurg, Chairperson and Managing Director of the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group has been awarded the highest French civilian award - the Legion of Honor Chevalier (Knight). The award was conferred by the French Ambassador to the UAE, HE Nicolas Niemtchinow, on behalf of the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, at a special ceremony hosted by H.E. Nathalie Kennedy, the Consul General, at the French residence, and attended by highly distinguished guests.
The honour comes in recognition of Dr Al Gurg’s outstanding achievements and contribution in the fields of business and industry. Dr Raja Al Gurg is a well-respected businesswoman who has achieved several international laurels and awards. She has been feted for her accomplishments within the multifaceted conglomerate that she leads, as well as for empowering the younger generation as an inspirational woman leader. Her work with the Al Jalila Foundation and in the fields of healthcare and education have opened new pathways of progress in these sectors.
On the recognition, Dr Raja Al Gurg said, 'I am truly humbled to accept this recognition on behalf of my countrywomen in the United Arab Emirates. It is a great honour to be placed along with the past and present honourees whom I have long admired and respected. In a larger sense, this award is a true spotlight on the countless leaders, who work tirelessly to make an impact in the global community. In joining their ranks, I hope to continue my efforts in further strengthen the close bonds between the UAE and France. Emirati - French ties have a historic legacy in economic and cultural domains and my efforts will be to further broaden these collaborations.”
Speaking on the recognition awarded to Dr Raja Al Gurg, HE Nicolas Niemtchinow, said:

The Legion of Honor (Chevalier l’Ordre National de la Legion d’Honneur), created in 1802, by Napoleon Bonaparte, is the highest civilian award of the French Republic for outstanding contribution in diverse fields bestowed on citizens of the world. The honour is also an acknowledgement of the talent and expertise that UAE offers to the global stage.
