AMAF Participates in Minors' Care Conference in Kuwait
Al-Rais: “Family Village project brings hope for a better future for orphans and under-privileged children in Dubai”
Dubai-UAE: March 24, 2014 - Awqaf and Minors’ Affairs Foundation (AMAF) participated in the second Minors’ Care Conference, which was held under the title 'Make their issues your own - they are your brothers' in the presence of His Excellency Dr Nayef Al-Ajmi, Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Chairman of the Public Authority for Minors’ Affairs in Kuwait.
The conference, which was held under the patronage of the Public Authority for Minors’ Affairs in Kuwait, allowed participants from the GCC region to share best experiences in the field of minors’ care. The event also highlighted the importance of institutional interactions and meetings in facilitating greater synergy among humanitarian organizations engaged in the affairs of minors in the region.
His Excellency Tayeb Al-Rais, Secretary General of Awqaf and Minors’ Affairs Foundation (AMAF), said: “We remain committed to providing comprehensive social welfare to minors. Social welfare in this case spans sectors such as healthcare, education, and services that enable AMAF’s minors to become self-reliant and responsible when they legally come of age. We do this through enhancing their financial and social position, and investing their money in a safe and profitable manner in compliance with the principles of Islamic sharia.”
In the conference, Al-Rais highlighted AMAF's most prominent project to date that complements the Foundation’s social role, vision and mission. Pointing out that the Family Village is the first-of-its-kind orphanage in Dubai, he said the project will offer hope for a brighter future to orphans and children of unknown parentage in providing shelter, education, nutrition and healthcare in a family atmosphere.
His Excellency Al-Rais said: “To ensure sustainability, financial and administrative stability of the Family Village project, AMAF will collaborate with donors and endowers in establishing an endowment project in Dubai with all relevant proceeds from this initiative being earmarked to the Family Village. This will ensure the achievement of the project’s objectives without being impacted by the fluctuation of donations or grants.”
He added: “The focus on the Family Village reiterates our priority at AMAF to not only provide care and attention to minors, but also to adopt an informed and strategic plan in nurturing children with the ability to support their nation and the community at large as productive members.”
