Minister of Climate Change & Environment inspects Jebel Ali Port's Agricultural & Veterinary Quarantine Center
Dubai, UAE, 5 April 2016: H.E. Dr. Thani Ahmed Al-Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, met H.E. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman, DP World, during his recent visit to Jebel Ali Port to inspect the Ministry’s Agricultural and Veterinary Quarantine Center. During the meeting, they discussed the ways to foster strategic partnerships between the two parties in order to raise the efficiency of the inspection and supervision services provided by the Center. H.E. Dr. Al-Zeyoudi praised the services provided by the Port’s management authority to strengthen the quarantine work flow.
Prior to visiting the Center in Jebel Ali, the Minister, accompanied by H.E. Sultan Bin Alwan Al Habsi, Assistant Undersecretary of Regions Sector at the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, had conducted an inspection of the Agricultural and Veterinary Quarantine Center in Al Hamriya Port. The visit was organized to review work flow and efficiency as well as monitor and examine the effectiveness of incoming and outgoing shipments.
H.E. Al-Zeyoudi was given a detailed explanation of the Center’s work flow and the services provided and their compatibility with the Ministry’s strategy to promote stakeholders’ happiness of the Ministry’s services. He was informed about the Center’s key role in protecting the UAE from agricultural pests and animal diseases.
The Minister emphasized the importance of Jebel Ali Port for the country, due to the high volume of import and export the facility handles, resulting in a large number of daily transactions performed by employees. He praised the experienced and qualified employees of the Center who finalize all transactions according to the highest global standards and practices to ensure an accurate, fluid and quick trading process while ensuring the safety of goods and its compliance with the standards.
“The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment is keen to improve the stipulated procedures and services in the Ministry’s Centers and build a team of qualified professionals to deal with unexpected emergencies. In addition, the Ministry aims to promote technical abilities to address all issues that threaten the UAE’s food safety and encourage exchange of information between the Centers and strategic partners to ensure a quick response in case of an emergency,” concluded H.E. Al-Zeyoudi.
