Dubai, 26 February 2017:  The new IKEA PS 2017 collection is all about independence. Aimed at the free and flexible person that lives in all of us, the collection is designed by 17 urban designers from around the globe. This is the 9th IKEA PS Collection and contains over 50 products, including limited edition items.

IKEA PS 2017 says goodbye to convention and hello to the vitality of changing, urban living spaces. The collection is for the fiercely independent and for free-thinkers who refuse a work-eat-sleep-repeat life, not asking for permission or approval, choosing freedom and the possibilities that come with it.

Rocking Chair - AED 1,495
“With IKEA PS 2017 rocking-chair, I wanted to challenge our usual way of furnishing the living room, with a sofa facing the TV. Today’s families are often alone together. Present in the room, but elsewhere in their minds. I want to get people closer to each other.”
— Designer Marcus Arvonen

3-piece self-watering plant pot set - AED 125
”I’m one of those who never manages to take care of my plants. Every time I come home after a trip, all I see is unhappy plants and brown leaves. I finally decided to find a solution, and started looking for the best material for the job.”
— Designer Iina Vuorivirta

Throw with Zipper - AED 175
“I decided to create a new kind of throw blanket that you can also wear. While visiting a supplier in China, I found a quilted fabric with soft interior. Right there and then was born the idea for the IKEA PS 2017 throw blanket with a zipper.”
— Designer Hanna Dalrot

Vase - AED 49
”To create something unique that can also be mass-produced was an exciting challenge for me as a designer. Despite all vases being mouthblown in the same mould, they get a unique look because the melted glass is made of various shades of leftover material from the glassworks. The result is due to chance, and unique each time. Just like us humans.”
— Designer Iina Vuorivirta

Storage Unit - AED 25
“I didn’t need to think hard in order to come up with the idea for IKEA PS 2017 storage unit. It just came to me when I saw some collapsible pallet collars during a factory visit. Without tools, screws or fittings, you can transform the flat package into a functional storage unit in just minutes.”
— Designer Nike Karlsson
