Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 31 January 2025: Dubai Municipality has announced the installation of 237 smart traps to control mosquitoes and other insects across various areas of Dubai. This initiative forms part of the Municipality’s ongoing efforts to enhance public health services, implement proactive prevention strategies, and protect the community from insect-borne risks. The winter season typically sees an increase in mosquito reproduction rates, making these measures particularly timely.

The traps have been strategically placed across the emirate, including in residential, commercial, and industrial zones, as well as near water bodies, markets, parks, and public facilities.

These advanced traps play a crucial role in Dubai’s Integrated Public Health Pest Management system, supporting green pest control by minimising the use of pesticides. They also enhance predictive monitoring of insect populations and improve overall pest control operations.

Powered by clean solar energy, the smart traps provide continuous insect monitoring, offering real-time insights into mosquito activity across Dubai. This contributes to more effective pest control measures and reinforces preventive public health strategies.

Dubai Municipality continues to implement comprehensive plans for sterilisation and pest control across the emirate, strengthening health and safety measures while ensuring proactive protection against public health risks. These efforts align with the Municipality’s vision of making Dubai a more attractive, sustainable, and high-quality city every day
