United Arab Emirates, Dubai, May 1st 2018:   The College of Fashion and Design (CFD) and the Dubai Design and Fashion Council (DDFC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to formalize their collaboration and pursue their initiatives and activities in the training and development of fashion professionals.

CFD, a fully accredited, dedicated fashion college in Business Bay, offers a number of special services to DDFC members such as preferred access to the photo studio, event hall, fashion lab and innovation lab at CFD where emerging designers can showcase their work and use state-of-the-art equipment to enhance their designs.

CFD also offers discounted prices for its short courses to DDFC members who wish to fill their skill gaps. “We are very pleased to be able to support fashion entrepreneurs and help to create home-grown designers through this important cooperative agreement”, says CFD President and CEO, Dr. Monica Gallant.

The Dubai Design and Fashion Council (DDFC) was established by the Dubai Government to raise the profile of Dubai as a regional and global destination for design. Leading the development of a sustainable industry, DDFC provides in-depth market intelligence and helps elevate local and regional talent, enabling the contribution of the creative industries to the development of the Emirate.

DDFC oversees, supports, promotes and drives initiatives related to 5 key design segments, Architecture, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Interior Design and Product Design.

On the importance of this partnership, Jazia Al Dhanhani, CEO of DDFC commented “We are pleased to be signing a MoU with the College of Fashion & Design in Dubai which shares our vision in educating and supporting fashion designers in the United Arab Emirates, and I am sure our members will greatly benefit from this partnership”.

CFD students were excited to hear about the benefits that DDFC can offer to them as new student members. Of particular interest was the opportunity to find local and international internships with established fashion brands like Burberry. “After attending the workshop with DDFC, I learned about the opportunities we can get while studying and after graduation. I was so interested in joining DDFC because as a Fashion Business Management student, DDFC will help me to get internships with large brands and make good industry contacts”, stated Udita Jain, Year 2 CFD student.
