Ajman, United Arab Emirates -  22 July  2019:  Al Manama Health Center Ajman of the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has successfully obtained the reaccreditation of the Joint Commission International (JCI), owing to the center’s success in maintaining the same quality of healthcare standards provided for patients.

In 2015, Al Manama Health Center obtained the accreditation for the first time and it managed to maintain the same level of excellence of its healthcare services throughout these years, thus obtaining the reaccreditation after passing the evaluation tour which the JCI Committee conducts every three years for all the accredited centers.

Continuous Improvement of Healthcare Services

Commenting on this achievement, H.E. Dr. Hussein Abdel Rahman Al-Rand, Undersecretary of the Ministry’s Health Assistant Sector, Health Centers and Clinics, said: “This achievement stems from MoHAP’s endeavors to carry out the ongoing improvement of the medical centers’ services, in accordance with the international accreditation standards. This accreditation also constitutes an impetus to the competition between the country’s health centers to enhance their healthcare services. This comes as part of MoHAP’s strategy aiming to reinforce the healthcare standards in accordance with the highest international standards and the National Agenda 2021.”

In the same context, the UAE has ranked the world’s first place for the fourth year in a row in terms of the number of accredited health facilities amounting to 221 medical facilities.

Al Rand pointed out that this reaccreditation followed the center’s success to fulfill a number of health requirements and specifications, noting that this achievement forms a quality reference in primary healthcare.

“Furthermore, this reaccreditation is constituting a driving factor to realize further methodological development in patient care, as well as to apply the same standards to all medical centers. MoHAP is committed to providing world-class healthcare services to maintain patients’ confidence,” Al Rand noted.

An Ambitious Agenda

H.E Hamad Taryam Al Shamsi, Director of Ajman Medical District, said: “This reaccreditation reinforces patients’ confidence in terms of promoting the quality standards of the services provided and also proves the strict commitment to enhancing the healthcare practices at Al Manama Center.
Ajman Medical District has developed a specific agenda, in coordination with MoHAP, concerning this reaccreditation and the continuity to implement all requirements of the accreditation.

Development Projects

Dr. Abdul Mohsen Ibrahim, Director of Al Manama Health Center, shed light on the Center’s success in updating 200 standards relating to healthcare services and patient safety in accordance with the international standards, in addition to spreading awareness among the people and the medical staff as per MoHAP’s approved performance indicators.

Ibrahim also highlighted the Center’s success in accomplishing a number of development projects, such as early detection and intervention of diabetes in order to delay or prevent the disease.

“The center has managed to treat 45 prediabetes cases through an integrated medical program. This project has extended to include 75 students with obesity. Besides, the Nursing Department has carried out a project to develop electronic medical records for patients’ follow-up, in accordance with the global standards of patient safety,” Ibrahim added.

An Isolation Room for Infectious Diseases

The Director of Al Manama Health Center pointed out the center is provided with a modern sterilization device to ensure that the surgical instruments are sterilized by 100%. Also, an isolation room for the infectious disease was established to ensure the non-prevalence of epidemics and communicable diseases.
In the same vein, Al Manama Center has launched an intensified educational drive highlighting the safe use of antibiotics and raising awareness among patients and visitors to the center, with the commitment of the medical team to the evidence-based medicine.

The services provided by Al Manama Health Center include: general treatment, teeth treatment, vaccination of children, follow-up of pregnant women, nutrition, chronic diseases, home visits, premarital examination and counseling, periodic health examinations, school health, X-ray, sonar, laboratory, and early detection of colon cancer, breast cancer and cervical cancer.
