Ras Al Khaimah, July 23 2019:   The 8th edition of the Ras Al Khaimah Fine Arts Festival (RAKFAF) is accepting submissions from local and international artists for its 2020 exhibitions until July 31st, 2019. The Festival, which is being held for the second year at the recently restored historic village of Al Jazirah Al Hamra Old Town, celebrates the evolving arts scene in the Emirate and champions local artistic talent.

The theme of the 2020 Festival is Connected Communities. Built around shared spaces and commonalities, communities imply genuine connection. Yet what does community mean in an increasingly globalized, technology-driven world? Through this theme, the Festival seeks to explore the many ways people build relationships with others, their surrounding environments, and the natural world.

The Festival hopes to use art, in all its forms, to bring to life the many profound ways we experience community and the collective power they have for shaping our small, respective corners of the globe.

The call for submissions will close July 31, 2019. Submissions addressing the Connected Communities theme will be accepted in four categories:

• Digital Art*
• Sculpture
• Film
• Student

*Digital Art covers paintings, photographs, graphics, and other two-dimensional mixed media if entries are submitted as a high-resolution photograph and adhere to the specified requirements.

First and second place awards will be presented in each of the four categories (total of eight awards). First place honors include a trophy and 5,000 AED cash award. Second place honors include a trophy and 2,500 AED cash award.
