Astronaut Christina H. Koch Shares for the first-time photo of Hazzaa AlMansoori during first filmed tour in Arabic of the ISS

Dubai, UAE, 8th November 2019: Through a post on her social media platforms, American astronaut Christina Koch revealed that she was part of the first Arabic filmed tour of the International Space Station (ISS) conducted by the UAE's first Astronaut, Hazzaa AlMansoori.
Koch posted 2 photos and commented: “it was my privilege to film him doing the first ever UAE tour in Arabic at ISS and to watch his eyes light up seeing his spectacular country from space.”
In one of the photos, Koch appears holding a video camera filming Hazzaa while he was standing in one of ISS units. The other photo she posted was of Palm Jumeirah in Dubai.
Hazzaa AlMansoori carried out UAE’s first scientific mission in space which is part of the UAE Astronaut Programme. Hazzaa launched to ISS ON September 25th,2019. During the mission, 31 scientific experiments were conducted including 16 in collaboration with International Space Agencies and 15 curriculum inspired experiments for the United Arab Emirates.
Koch arrived to ISS on March 14th of this year and on October 18th astronaut Koch performed the first full female space walk along with her fellow astronaut Jessica Meir.
Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has previously published a video for the Emirati Astronaut Hazzaa AlMansoori whilst giving a tour aboard the International Space Station (ISS). The video is the first filmed tour in Arabic language of the ISS, where AlMansoori explained the segments, units, components, equipment and tools of the ISS.
The mission is part of the UAE Astronaut Programme, which is overseen by the MBRSC. The UAE Astronaut Programme is the first integrated programme in the Arab region to prepare national cadres to participate in human space flights and carry out various scientific missions, in addition to becoming a part of the research carried out by the global scientific community to devise solutions to many challenges facing humanity.
The UAE Astronaut Programme is funded by the ICT fund of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA). Launched in 2007, this fund, which is the first of its kind in the Arab world, aims towards supporting research and development within the ICT sector in the UAE, helping it to grow into a nationally significant industry with a leading place in the world.
