The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has concluded its participation in the UAE Innovation Week, which was held under the slogan “UAE Innovates 2021”, from 21 to 27 February.

The ministry’s participation included a series of activities and events aimed at stimulating innovative thinking and celebrating creatives and innovators. This comes as part of the ministry’s plans to consolidate the culture of innovation in the institutional work, empower national competencies to develop pioneering projects, and get the most out of the medical and technical cadres to deliver top-notch health services for the community members.

Among the most prominent events organized by MoHAP’s Training & Development Center was the Digital Health Hackathon “Future Health 2071”, which dealt with the ideas and challenges that can shape the future of healthcare, specifically artificial intelligence (AI), personalized medicine, and the role of technology in improving access to healthcare. The event saw the participation of developers, designers, marketers, nurses, doctors, students, and healthcare professionals from the UAE and beyond, with cash prizes of up to $ 10,000 handed over to the top three winners.

In the same vein, MoHAP has launched the “Afkari” public platform to encourage the public to share their creative ideas and thoughts on the development of the healthcare sector.

Also, the ministry, in cooperation with Entrepreneur Middle East magazine held a series of webinars titled “Biz Health” on the role of youth in framing the healthcare future, with the participation of speakers Harvard University and MoHAP Youth Council.
Themed “Impact Health”, the ministry also organized a series of webinars on the role of innovation now and in the future in shaping and impacting the future of healthcare at the global level. The talk focused on the subject of “From the Human Genome Project to Precision Medicine: A Journey to Advance Human Health'.

Innovation-stimulating environment

Saqr Alhemeiri, Director of Training & Development Center and Chief Innovation Officer stressed the ministry’s keenness to take part in this annual event via a bunch of creative activities, to consolidate an innovation-stimulating environment, boost the positive competition among employees to present new ideas and proposals, and support innovators to further develop their skills and capacities.
