InSinkErator and The Sustainable City Work Together to Enhance Management of Food Waste in the UAE

• The Sustainable City achieved 80% recycling of household waste by providing sorting at source and use of other accepted disposal practices.
• The InSinkErator Model 50+, food waste disposers are designed to reduce the amount of waste generated by an average family up to 40%.
 
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, May 04, 2021 – InSinkErator, a business unit of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), the inventor and the world's largest manufacturer of food waste disposers for home and commercial use, recently collaborated with The Sustainable City, Dubai, to help people and communities with efficient management of food waste, which is one of the core reasons that feeds into climate change  in celebration of Earth Day 2021. 
 
The UN Environment Program’s Food Waste Index Report 2021 states that Nearly 570 million tonnes of food waste occurs at the household level . Thoroughly understanding the importance of reducing food waste and emphasizing on community awareness on the subject, InSinkErator trailblazed several commercial and consumer-driven initiatives. One such initiative was partnering with Diamond Developers, the developers of The Sustainable City, Dubai, to equip 589 villas and apartments with the InSinkErator Model 50+, food waste disposers designed to reduce the amount of waste generated by an average family up to 40%.
 
The Sustainable City achieved 80% recycling of household waste by providing sorting at source and use of other accepted disposal practices. 
 
The InSinkErator Model 50+ has a built-in Air-Switch and an advanced Stainless Steel Grind Chamber that grinds down food waste including small bones. The food waste disposers use approximately 6 liters a day, which is about 1% or less of total water consumption of a household.

To amplify similar efforts this year in alignment with the UAE’s National Food Security Strategy, InSinkErator provided the tenants of The Sustainable City with an opportunity in the form of AED 250 on their products and solutions which they can opt for to make a positive contribution towards restoring and greening Earth to its former glory.
