Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 28 June 2024: The opening weekend of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) 2024 is here, marking the start of 10 epic weeks of new and only-in-Dubai experiences, electrifying events, spectacular shopping, unbeatable hotel and attraction offers, and tantalising gastronomy experiences - all at pocket-friendly prices and great value for everyone. Kicking off the season of endless summer fun and endless brilliant bargains, the DSS Opening Weekend Celebrations are lighting up Dubai's malls on 28 and 29 June. Organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), visitors can expect electrifying live entertainment, featuring a dynamic mix of music, dance, and performing arts. City Centre Mirdif is hosting captivating acts by Norwegian dance group Quick Style, Jordanian indie band Autostrad, Jordanian-Palestinian singer and songwriter Dana Salah, and Iraqi–Canadian singer and songwriter Ali Gatie; while Mall of the Emirates is welcoming DJ Keza, DJ Tala Samman, and DJ Sonya to spin their beats alongside dance performances by Hallway Boyz, Moto Dancers, and a Bharatnatyam and Hip-Hop Fusion. Dubai Festival City Mall is hosting dazzling parades, mesmerising dances, and captivating stilt walkers for  jaw-dropping performances of technicolour that will delight all ages.

Music aficionados can also enjoy three opening weekend concerts at the Coca-Cola Arena, with a stirring line-up of artists. Legendary performers Georges Wassouf and Al Shami will set the stage on fire at the Coca-Cola Arena today, on 28 June. Three of the biggest sensations of the rapping world - Xzibit, D12, and Obie Trice - will grace the stages of the Coca-Cola Arena on 29 June; followed by Ethiopia’s biggest pop star Teddy Afro, who will perform at the venue on 30 June. 

Dubai’s favourite summertime destination Modesh World brings endless excitement for parents and little ones this weekend and all summer long, with grand celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of one of the region’s largest indoor entertainment and amusement facilities. Families and children can expect a celebratory atmosphere at Dubai World Trade Centre Halls 3-8 as the free-to-enter destination promises never-ending entertainment with over 170 thrilling rides and attractions, alongside thrilling live entertainment, fun and interactive workshops, and amazing giveaways. The region’s favourite kid-influencer @shfa_family will make a special appearance alongside Modesh and his friend Dana on 29 June to meet and greet fans, while a packed schedule of unmissable events and indoor adventures continues until 18 August for families. Key highlights include an Inflatable Park, an Animal World Play Area, more than 100 arcade games and VR experiences, informative workshops, live shows, thrilling rides, soft play areas, inflatable slides, skilled games, and much more. Modesh World is open from 10am - 10pm on Mondays to Thursdays, and from 10am - 12am on Fridays to Sundays.

The opening weekend of DSS also sees the launch of Movie Magic brought to you by DSS, where Roxy Cinemas across the city are abuzz with thrilling activities. Families can catch their favourite films on the big screen all weekend, complete with unlimited popcorn refills. Kids can unleash their creative genius via arts and crafts activities, face painting, games, and much more. The wonderland of movie magic will continue throughout summer, with a packed calendar of world premieres, celebrity appearances, and much more. Visitors can expect daily surprises, win prizes, receive unexpected treats, and enjoy delicious combo deals on tickets and snacks. Modesh and Dana will also host special movie events throughout the summer, including the arrival of the Minions in key destinations across Dubai for the exclusive screening of Despicable Me 4 on 4 July.
